Adopt CARONTE

Mixed Breed · Female · Puppy · 6 months

Today we introduce a dog who has lived with us for years. You wouldn't believe it, given that nothing like this has ever happened in our dog shelter, but CARONTE arrived at the dog shelter at 5 months old and is still with us today at 4 and a half years. Arriving as a puppy with his brother Bruno, no one has ever asked about him, no one has ever chosen him, and no one has ever stopped to consider him. While Bruno was adopted, Caronte remained in his kennel, year after year, companion after companion. Why? Well, he was a bit shy, it’s true, but not too much!!! He was big, certainly, but someone is looking for large dogs too!! And so we want to think about his FUTURE. Because he deserves a future outside of here. Caronte was born in September 2021, neutered male, heartworm and leishmaniasis negative, compatible with female dogs, not with male dogs, and not tested with cats. Today he weighs around 38kg… he’s big, soft, with amber tones that are often hard to see because he’s covered in the dirt he loves to rub against and play with 🦛☺️ With us, he’s an explosion of vitality and joy, enthusiastic to go for walks, play with his toys (even if his favorite remains the stick 😂), and eat cookies to his heart’s content. He’s a dog who also loves cuddles, the moments of relaxation after the wild runs, the scratches under the chin… He adores his companion Tracy, and it would be a dream come true for us if there were a couple adoption, but we dare not hope for that. Grown up in the kennel and accustomed to us, of course, it naturally takes him a moment to get used to new faces, but with food and toys, friendship comes quickly 🤩 To get to know him better, scroll through his photos, we know there are many, but we hope to show you how we see him… look into his eyes and then come to meet him in person 😍 Before he grows old, before he loses hope… ENPA Torino, via Germagnano 8, Monday through Saturday 13-16, no appointment needed.

About CARONTE

What life with CARONTE looks like

CARONTE is a large puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at ENPA Sezione Torino in Torino.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇮🇹Adopting from Italy

Italian canili require adopters to sign a stewardship contract (affido) and may retain the right to verify the animal's wellbeing post-adoption. Animals are chipped and sterilized before leaving (Legge 281/91). Public canili rifugio typically waive adoption fees.

Frequently asked

Adopting CARONTE, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about CARONTE?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. ENPA Sezione Torino handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw CARONTE on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt CARONTE if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — ENPA Sezione Torino will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is CARONTE already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if CARONTE isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with ENPA Sezione Torino early rather than rehoming privately; they know CARONTE and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (IT). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
