Carrie

Mixed Breed · Female

This is Carrie, a beautiful tabby who has been at the sanctuary with us for quite some time. She came into the sanctuary covered in scabs due to a flea allergy and skin condition which has taken a while to rectify. She was reserved for a while but sadly, as we couldnt let her be rehomed until her skin was better, she lost the chance of that lovely home. Her fur has now all grown back and is silky soft and she is completely chilled out. She likes to be fussed but isn’t that keen on doing anything too energetic. Carrie would be an ideal companion for a single person as she would love the one to one attention. A couple would make a great match too. She would be ok with a family as long as the children were older and happy to let her do her own thing. Her new home would ideally have a garden which she can potter about in and relax in the fresh air once she is ready. This would need to be away from main/busy roads and other hazards. Carrie has had her vaccinations, been neutered, microchipped, flead, wormed and vet checked. If she sounds a good match for your situation, please fill out the application form below. £100 adoption fee applies.

About Carrie

What life with Carrie looks like

Carrie is a adult mixed breed cat waiting at Heatons Cat Sanctuary in United Kingdom.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Carrie, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Carrie?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Heatons Cat Sanctuary handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Carrie on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Carrie if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Heatons Cat Sanctuary will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Carrie already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Carrie isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Heatons Cat Sanctuary early rather than rehoming privately; they know Carrie and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
