adoption requirements adoption process Inquire about this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Inquire about this dog now! Sweet, sweeter, Cartofi! Our little Romanian potato was discovered scrounging for food in front of a supermarket. And in a jiffy, he was sitting on the back seat, calmly watching the world go by. Now Cartofi is on a mission. He is about 7 months old and with his current height of 46 cm, he will likely reach a medium size. This little guy is an absolute treasure. Relaxed, friendly, and gets along wonderfully with everyone. Cartofi has everything it takes to become a wonderful, indispensable companion. The only thing missing for him to be happy is his family. Cartofi is likely a wire-haired Terrier mix. Dogs of this type are considered clever, active, and alert, and need clear, loving guidance and plenty of mental stimulation for mind and body. People who enjoy spending time outdoors and living an active everyday life with Cartofi would be perfect for this handsome boy. Cartofi probably spent the first part of his young life on the streets. So he doesn't know household life yet. This young furry friend therefore still needs to learn the doggie basics. But as already mentioned, this fine gentleman has already discovered his love for car rides, so one important point can already be checked off. Our Cartofi won't skip adolescence either. During this time, hormones can go a bit crazy, and it's especially important for him to have people by his side to guide him through this exciting period. Attending a positive reinforcement dog training class would be a wonderful support, and on top of that you can grow even better as a team and strengthen your bond. Cartofi will travel neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, and treated for fleas with a valid EU pet passport to his new home.

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen!

About Cartofi

What life with Cartofi looks like

Cartofi is a medium-sized puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Cartofi, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Cartofi?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Cartofi on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Cartofi if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Cartofi already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Cartofi isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Cartofi and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
