Cashew

Mixed Breed · Female · Puppy · 5 months

adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Cashew has found a new home! Her story: 65527 Niedernhausen. Cashew is currently in a foster home and is blossoming every day. All she needs now is the right dog bed and a Forever Home. The little mouse is a real model student. She has learned the first signals in just a few days (sit, stay, paw), she strongly and willingly follows her people, and the interaction with the only dog really works out great. We appreciate that she seems to have some hound genes, which is why she also brings a smart, alert brain. In her foster home, she is already learning a piece of how life with people works every day. Even though there will certainly be a lot of new things, Cashew also learns new stimuli very quickly. So far, only strangers and other dogs during walks outside sometimes scare her. But she is being trained diligently, and Cashew is really making great strides. In a new home, it can certainly be refined further, but as curious as she is, positive reinforcement, needs-oriented training should definitely work well. She is currently 43 cm tall and weighs 13 kg. We estimate that she will grow to a medium size when fully grown. The loving Cashew is currently in the middle of puberty. Her people need a lot of patience right now because this phase of life is very challenging for all involved (primarily for Cashew). Here, a loving and well-trained dog training class with positive reinforcement, fair upbringing will be very helpful. Cashew is microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea-treated, and she can also bring an EU pet passport. The little Cashew eagerly awaits her final place with her heart's person. Many thanks, Sophie! You gave Cashew her name!

Vielen Dank Sophie! Du hast Cashew ihren Namen geschenkt!

About Cashew

What life with Cashew looks like

Cashew is a medium-sized puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Cashew, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Cashew?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Cashew on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Cashew if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Cashew already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Cashew isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Cashew and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
