Casper

Mixed Breed · Male · Puppy · 5 months

Casper is just five and a half months old, and he is one of those puppies that makes it very difficult to find anything not to love about him. He is incredibly handsome, with his fluffy, slightly messy coat, big expressive eyes, and permanently happy face that wins you over the moment you meet him. We found him in Oropos together with his sibling. Sadly, his sibling was hit by a car and did not survive. Casper was the lucky one. He made it to our shelter, where he is now growing up and waiting for a family of his own. And with Casper, things really are quite easy. He is an exceptionally social and easy-going puppy. He loves people, enjoys affection and playtime, and seems to adapt very easily to new situations. He is the kind of dog who walks into a new place and immediately wants to explore, play, and meet everyone. Like any puppy his age, Casper has plenty of energy, but he also has a wonderfully balanced temperament. He is playful without being difficult, affectionate without being demanding, and very eager to learn. With the right guidance, he will grow into a fantastic companion for a family that wants to share their life with him and introduce him to everything the world has to offer. Casper has pretty much everything you could ask for in a puppy: looks, personality, sociability, curiosity, and a natural desire to be close to people. Now he just needs the most important thing of all: a home. A person or family willing to give him the love, consistency, and time he needs to grow up. In return, they will have the chance to watch this wonderful puppy become the amazing adult dog he is already showing us he can be.

About Casper

What life with Casper looks like

Casper is a large puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Save a Greek Stray in Metsovo.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇬🇷Adopting from Greece

Greek shelters often partner with Northern European rescue groups for placements. Animals are sterilized, vaccinated, and chipped before adoption. Fees vary widely depending on whether the shelter is municipal or NGO-run.

Frequently asked

Adopting Casper, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Casper?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Save a Greek Stray handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Casper on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Casper if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Save a Greek Stray will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Casper already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Casper isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Save a Greek Stray early rather than rehoming privately; they know Casper and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
