Adopt Cassy

Mixed Breed · Female

Our little Cassy – a real snowflake on four paws. Cassy is a Maltese-Bichon Frisé female dog, delicate, sensitive, and with a heart that quietly asks for closeness. A little furry soul you don't simply overlook, but feel. At just twelve weeks old, Cassy moved from the breeder to her new home. There she found her primary caregiver, her center, her safe haven. For nearly three years, everything was good – until that person suddenly passed away. In that moment, Cassy's small world collapsed completely. Unfortunately, the family was not able to take Cassy in. So she came to us. Many things that other dogs take for granted, Cassy has not yet had the chance to experience. She hasn't been able to learn very much in her young life – not for lack of willingness, but for lack of opportunity. In her foster home, she's now catching up step by step. Cassy wants to learn. She wants to please. But above all, she wants to finally arrive. You can tell how much she orients herself toward her person and how grateful she is for every calm bit of affection. For our little snowflake, we are looking for a calm, loving home with people who have heart, patience, and understanding. People who give her security and continue to deepen what she has already learned – at her pace, with a lot of sensitivity. Cassy isn't looking for a perfect home. She's looking for a real one. A place where she can learn to trust again and where loss can turn back into security. If you are interested, please feel free to get in touch!

About Cassy

What life with Cassy looks like

Cassy is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tiere in Not Breisgau e.V. in Freiburg.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Cassy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Cassy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tiere in Not Breisgau e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Cassy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Cassy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tiere in Not Breisgau e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Cassy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Cassy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tiere in Not Breisgau e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Cassy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
