adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Cedar has found his people! His story: Baia Mare, Romania. All eyes on Cedar! A glance into those beautiful icy blue eyes and we are enchanted. Polar Bear Cedar and his awesome siblings have their whole lives ahead of them and do not want to grow up in the shelter! Could Cedar find his "forever home" with you? Cedar is one of six fluffy puppies from our dear Mom Fleur. They are 2 to 3 months old and are expected to grow to a large size. Due to their appearance, we suspect herding dog genes. It is important to familiarize yourself with the characteristics of these dogs and consider whether the dog will fit into your personal environment. Herding dogs are not city or office dogs. For Cedar, a large fenced-in property where he can guard would be ideal. Herding dogs are independent personalities that require the owner or owneress to have the ability to handle a smart, independent, large dog. Despite their big heads, they bring many great qualities. People who have already had experiences with herding dogs want no other breed, as they are truly loyal and faithful companions. Like most puppies, he is clumsy and playful and enjoys the company of humans. He plays a lot with his siblings and wants to learn what the world has to offer. The handsome Cedar still has a lot to learn. He is neither house-trained, nor can he walk on a leash or be left alone. The dog ABC is completely new to him, but with lots of love, empathy, and the right training, the inexperienced puppy will become a confident male dog. We strongly recommend attending a positively working dog training class. Especially during the exciting phase of puberty, which Cedar will soon enter, boundaries will be tested and emotions will play completely crazy. With patience and in small steps, which can also go backwards at times, this challenge will be overcome together. Cedar can be microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and treated for fleas for his new home or foster home. His EU pet passport comes with him and he will only be transferred to a positive home. Do you give your heart to Cedar? Many loving thanks, Birgit D.! Your namingship gives Cedar an identity and the great chance at a new life. Many loving thanks, Sandra S.! You support Cedar with a monthly paternity.

Lieben Dank Sandra S.! Du unterstützt Cedar mit einer monatlichen Patenschaft.

About Cedar

What life with Cedar looks like

Cedar is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Cedar, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Cedar?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Cedar on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Cedar if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Cedar already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Cedar isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Cedar and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
