Celia

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Puppy · 10 months

As animal welfare workers, we often find ourselves in the awkward position of telling people that the dog they're interested in might not be suitable for them or their lifestyle. It's often difficult to make someone understand that the right fit might look completely different from what they've chosen based on color, breed, or cuteness. But part of working in animal protection also means taking in all those "fashion dogs," the cute little fur balls that have quickly grown into playful and selectively attentive teenagers, the working dogs that were thought to be perfect for couch life, in other words, all the dogs that simply weren't suited for a proper home, and giving them a second chance. Some wait their whole lives in the world of wire cages and concrete floors. Celia was also adopted as a puppy. Her owner is a kind old lady who always wanted the best for her dog. But now Celia is 10 months old, curious, active, full of energy, and she's overwhelming her owner. Hoping that Celia gets what she really needs, the senior citizen has now handed Celia over to Arca Sevilla, and we hope soon to be able to say that this knee-high photo model has found a new circle of influence among people who better match her breed and personality. The lively 10-month-old (as of 06/2022) Pinscher mix with the wonderful brown-red coat and brilliant white accents is pure joy on four paws. Curious and playful, Celia enjoys every minute of the day. Her big eyes always look boldly into the world, and when she spots a ball, all dams break and the little lady shows off her qualities as an enduring bundle of energy. Of course, it's best if someone has the time to keep throwing toys for Celia, but this clever girl has already discovered many great ways to entertain herself otherwise. Not least, she runs around with her four-legged friends in the free run and steals tools from the volunteers (knowing that then someone will have to spend time with her - or at least hand out an extra biscuit). Celia is a real young lady and her spirit and charm quickly convince any two-legged being nearby that they are in the presence of a real treasure. We wish this nice little one a family that is active and friendly, humorous and with a big heart... does this description fit you and your loved ones? Well then, don't hesitate and get in touch with us! Celia happily wags her tail waiting for news about where her new dog bed will be, and is practically bursting with anticipation about what color her new balls will be!. This animal was surrendered to the shelter.

About Celia

What life with Celia looks like

Celia is a small puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. in Gernsbach.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Celia, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Celia?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Celia on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Celia if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Celia already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Celia isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Celia and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
