Chanel

Unknown Β· Adult Β· 5 years

Chanel is a 5.5-year-old Boerboel mix (13-05-2021). Chanel was surrendered by her owner due to personal circumstances. She arrived at the shelter with Chevy, and these two could be placed together, but she can also be placed alone. The first few days were a bit overwhelming for her at the shelter, but she quickly warmed up and is now very enthusiastic when she gets attention. She shows this by jumping up happily and giving lots of hugs and kisses. Chanel also enjoys playing with toys. She can still find strangers, especially men and children, a bit intimidating, so she is placed with children aged 16 and above. We suspect that once she settles into her new home, she will become a real lap dog. During walks, Chanel generally walks nicely. She loves food, so when you bring something tasty, she'll stick to you. She sniffs during walks and hardly pulls on the leash. She can bark at other dogs. Chanel could be placed with another dog, but she can be a bit picky. Males seem to go better than females. If Chanel is placed alone, she will get all the attention she needs, which she doesn't mind at all. It is unknown if Chanel can be left alone at home. We suspect she can, but it's important to build up to this gradually.

About Chanel

What life with Chanel looks like

Chanel is an adult dog waiting at Dierenopvangcentrum Breda in Breda.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" β€” quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures β€” to let them settle.

πŸ‡³πŸ‡±Adopting from Netherlands

Dutch shelters typically require a household assessment and an adoption contract. Animals are routinely sterilized, microchipped, and registered in the national pet database (NDG) before placement.

Frequently asked

Adopting Chanel, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Chanel?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dierenopvangcentrum Breda handles screening and the adoption contract directly β€” TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Chanel on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Chanel if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad β€” Dierenopvangcentrum Breda will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Chanel already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported β€” ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Chanel isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work β€” that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dierenopvangcentrum Breda early rather than rehoming privately; they know Chanel and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NL). Translation is imperfect β€” names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
