Channel

Mixed Breed · Female · 5 years

Channel is a 5-year-old micro shepherd who came to us six months ago after an accident. She was hit by a train, resulting in injuries, and had to have her tail amputated. Sometimes she stands on her paws crookedly. Normally, she has no major problems moving, but she should not be overexerted, especially when her hindquarters start to go down and her muscles become overworked. Soon after the accident, she had a limp, but this is no longer an issue. Channel is extremely affectionate, kind, and loving. She loves people! She becomes very attached to her caregiver and happily expresses her joy and excitement when she sees them. Through the bars, she sometimes barks at passing people, but in an instant, her heart warms and she greets them joyfully. There is not the slightest bit of aggression towards humans in her. Also, appearances from the crate are misleading. With her human, she walks beautifully without a leash, behaving politely and following closely. Channel shares a crate with another dog, with whom she gets along well. She gets along well with other dogs, although sometimes she can be flirtatious, but do you know anyone who likes everyone?

PL·Show original

About Channel

What life with Channel looks like

Channel is a medium-sized adult mixed breed dog waiting at Schronisko Wrocław in Wrocław.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

Note from the shelter: Mobility issues from train accident - had tail amputated, occasional leg positioning problems, needs limited exercise to avoid muscle strain

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Channel, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Channel?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Wrocław handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Channel on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Channel if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Wrocław will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Channel already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Channel isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Wrocław early rather than rehoming privately; they know Channel and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
