adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Chap has found a new home! His story: Chap was allowed to travel directly into his family as a little puppy in 2021, and we thought it would be forever. In the family, there have been changes, and thus there is little time left for him. Chap, who is now named Levi, must leave his family without fault. He forms a very strong bond with a primary caregiver, whom he chooses himself, and he desperately needs a regulated life again. He does not like it when people argue or even playfully bicker. Chap is a handsome, active male dog. He walks well on a leash and enjoys being out in nature. He gets along well with fellow animals and loves playing with them. However, he does not tolerate fellow animals in his home, as he tends to defend his resources. He has no problems with cats in the household. Car rides are not his thing. He jumps in happily and lies down, but he regularly gets queasy during car rides. The vet speaks of travel sickness, and one could support him with medication during longer rides. Chap can already be left alone for some time. He has learned basic commands and even some tricks. Chap is a ca. 3.5-year-old male dog, with a shoulder height of about 57 cm. He wishes for a rural home with active people with dog experience who have plenty of time for him. The garden should be securely fenced, as Chap likes to jump high and far. He could be rehomed with an individual or a family with children. Children should be in their teenage years and accustomed to respectful dog handling. However, no other pets should live there. Chap wants his people all to himself. Chap is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, and treated for fleas. He has an EU pet passport and will only be placed after a positive P.! You have named Chap and given him a name! Additionally, you have supported Chap with a monthly sponsorship! Status: 25.01.

Stand: 25.01.2024

About Chap

What life with Chap looks like

Chap is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Chap, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Chap?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Chap on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Chap if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Chap already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Chap isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Chap and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
