adoption requirements adoption process Now adopt this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Chap has found his home! His story: Zalau, Romania. Chap, the tomcat with the most fascinating sleeping positions, is waiting for his final destination! Chap was rescued as a kitten by our animal protectors from the streets. Since he was already very people-oriented and open here, we are sure that the little guy was abandoned. It's even better that he was found and allowed to grow up safely. Chap now lives in our cat room in Zalau and is known for his extraordinary sleeping positions, which are as impressive as a yoga session 🙂. At just under one year old, Chap is very attached to people. He is extremely open, loving, and catches attention with his great personality. Of course, he is also still playful and likes to climb here and there. He enjoys his life to the fullest. Chap is described as a balanced and fun little guy who loves to be stroked and cuddled. So here is a little tomcat with a big heart waiting for his Forever Home. But just as wonderful is his open nature towards other cats. He is not at all pushy. He also likes to cuddle and play with them and is always happy about the contact. For this reason, we do not rehome our Tiger in single ownership. He is also not rehomed as a pure indoor cat to avoid the dangers that lie in wait for such an open tomcat out there. He feels just as comfortable inside and has everything he needs. Chap will be microchipped, vaccinated, neutered, dewormed, and treated for fleas before moving into his new home and was tested negative for FIV and FeLV. He already has an EU pet passport and will be waiting for you with open paws. Can Chap pack his bags and move in with you? Many thanks to Yvonne A.! You have given Chap his name.

Vielen Dank an Yvonne A.! Du hast Chap seinen Namen geschenkt.

About Chap

What life with Chap looks like

Chap is a small adult mixed breed cat waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Chap, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Chap?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Chap on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Chap if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Chap already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Chap isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Chap and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
