Chap

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 1 year

Lieve Chap ended up in the public shelter, which our rescuers visit regularly. There, she found him with severe Rachitis. This is a bone condition in young dogs, where the bones become soft and flexible. The cause is often due to deficiencies in the diet. Through hard work and the right nutrition and supplements, as you can see, he has recovered well. It's high time to look for a warm bed. Chap is a beautiful dog to look at, but also a fine personality in terms of character. He is very social with other dogs and very sweet to people. It should be clear that there is hunting in him, so he likes to use his nose very much. He is also extremely motivated by food, which is helpful during training. Hopefully, he can quickly close the chapter on North Macedonia and start his journey to the Netherlands or Belgium.

About Chap

What life with Chap looks like

Chap is a medium-sized young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Stichting Dogs on a Journey in Netherlands.

A young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇳🇱Adopting from Netherlands

Dutch shelters typically require a household assessment and an adoption contract. Animals are routinely sterilized, microchipped, and registered in the national pet database (NDG) before placement.

Frequently asked

Adopting Chap, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Chap?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Stichting Dogs on a Journey handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Chap on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Chap if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Stichting Dogs on a Journey will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Chap already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Chap isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Stichting Dogs on a Journey early rather than rehoming privately; they know Chap and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
