Adopt Chari

European Shorthair · Female · Adult · 7 years

Chari appeared one day, like by magic, in the yard of a family. She had entered there, but now she couldn’t get out because the walls were very high and she was hiding behind a closet, very scared and sniffling because she thought they were going to attack her. However, when our volunteers arrived, they gradually managed to coax her out of her hiding spot, make her feel safe and confident, and discovered that all Chari wanted was to be petted. Despite posting about her on our social media to find her family, no one has claimed her, so we assume this is another case of irresponsible abandonment. We suppose that either she was left in the area where she appeared, which has a colony of feral cats, or she was let out of the house and no one ever cared if she came back. Chari is now in our animal shelter, waiting to find a family that truly loves and will never abandon her. She loves being petted, although she also needs her space, but she is a sweet, affectionate, very pretty cat who will adapt perfectly to a home.

About Chari

What life with Chari looks like

Chari is a adult european shorthair cat waiting at Protectora de Animales de Segovia in Segovia.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇪🇸Adopting from Spain

Spanish protectoras generally include sterilization, all vaccinations, microchip ID, and EU pet passport in the adoption fee (typically €250–€400 for a dog, €100–€180 for a cat). Many maintain partnerships with rescue transport providers across the EU.

Frequently asked

Adopting Chari, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Chari?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Protectora de Animales de Segovia handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Chari on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Chari if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Protectora de Animales de Segovia will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Chari already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Chari isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Protectora de Animales de Segovia early rather than rehoming privately; they know Chari and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (ES). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
