Charlie Chihuahua

Chihuahua · Male · Adult · 6 years

Charlie is a lovely little companion who walks well on the lead and travels well in the car – he’s the perfect adventure buddy and he loves a good sniffy explore, especially on his favourite woodland walks. He’s fully housetrained, but he’s not a fan of being left home alone, so he would love patient owners who can build up his leaving hours slowly until he feels more comfortable. Charlie really enjoys spending the day playing with all his fun toys before settling down for a snuggle with his favourite humans. He’s a gorgeous boy inside and out, and he'll bring so much joy to his new home. Say hello to Charlie, the most handsome 6 year old Chihuahua cross you’ll ever see! This sensitive chap is looking for a home on the quieter side of life with nice calm routines to help settle his nerves. Because he finds new people quite worrying, he would prefer if any children in his life were secondary school aged and above, who understand that he may need his own space from time to time. Once Charlie has had time to get to know you at his own pace, he becomes an absolute lovebug and adores getting on your lap for a good cuddle! Charlie would prefer to be the only dog at home so he can have your attention all for himself; he can make friends with calm dogs whilst out and about, but he isn’t overly fussed about their company. We can’t wait for this sweet little bean to find his perfect forever family!

About Charlie Chihuahua

What life with Charlie Chihuahua looks like

Charlie Chihuahua is an adult chihuahua dog waiting at Dogs Trust Cardiff in Cardiff.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Charlie Chihuahua, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Charlie Chihuahua?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dogs Trust Cardiff handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Charlie Chihuahua on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Charlie Chihuahua if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dogs Trust Cardiff will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Charlie Chihuahua already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Charlie Chihuahua isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dogs Trust Cardiff early rather than rehoming privately; they know Charlie Chihuahua and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
