Bow

Whippet · Male · Young · 1 year

Bow would prefer to be the only dog in the home as he does need some manners with his playstyle. He would need social doggy friends that he can learn from and play with out and about as he does enjoy their company. Bow would cope in a reasonably busy home with some coming and going, but does need a little bit of training still as he is an adolescent boy. He is very foody, so this will come in handy with any training or enrichment. He would prefer for his new family to be home for most of the day at first, but could have his leaving hours built up. Meet gorgeous boy, Bow! Bow is a 1-year old Lurcher who is looking for his forever home. Bow is a super chap, who is absolutely wonderful with people. He is very friendly, though, can be quite bouncy and jump up but is working on his manners. For this reason, any children in the home should be of primary school age and above and comfortable with boisterous dogs. He is typical of his breed, particularly in terms of energy as he is an active lad! He loves to get out and about on his walks, and walks well on the lead. He would adore an active home with a family who are willing to keep his busy brain active, and take him on wonderful adventures. As per his breed, Bow does have a high prey drive and should be kept on lead around livestock and small animals. Being a younger fellow, he will also benefit from some confidence building in some areas as he can be a bit spooked by new experiences. Bow would love spreading out and cwtching on a sofa of his own, with his new people. We cannot wait to see this gorgeous boy thriving!

About Bow

What life with Bow looks like

Bow is a small young adult whippet dog waiting at Dogs Trust Cardiff in Cardiff.

A young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Bow, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Bow?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dogs Trust Cardiff handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Bow on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Bow if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dogs Trust Cardiff will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Bow already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Bow isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dogs Trust Cardiff early rather than rehoming privately; they know Bow and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
