CHARLIE

Mixed Breed · Male · Kitten · 10 months

Charlie was rescued from the euthanasia station this June along with his sister Chica. Charlie has been strongly seeking her company and is now getting to know many other dogs so he can learn how to navigate different situations independently of Chica. Charlie is initially somewhat skeptical and reserved around strangers, which is understandable given his past. The sensitive male needs some time to build trust and develops this at his own pace. Once he feels secure enough, however, he enjoys attention very much. Currently, Charlie shows a bit of selectiveness when interacting with other dogs and decides who he likes based on sympathy. At the same time, he behaves like a teenage dog in some ways and likes to test his limits accordingly. On-leash, it is still difficult for him to handle dog encounters calmly, which is why we would like people by his side who can give him the necessary security with calmness, consistency, and clear structures. Charlie benefits greatly from reliable leadership here and needs many instructions as well as clear boundaries in everyday life to orient himself around. Charlie has already had some experience in a domestic environment. During his visit to the apartment, he was initially excited but could calm down after a short time and then behaved pleasantly unobtrusive. We are looking for dog-experienced people who enjoy working with a young dog and accompanying him through this important development phase. With patience, understanding, consistent leadership, and the necessary expertise, we are sure Charlie will develop into a great companion. A confident, self-assured first dog could help him become more open and gain more confidence in new situations.

About CHARLIE

What life with CHARLIE looks like

CHARLIE is a puppy/kitten mixed breed cat waiting at Arche Noah Transilvania e.V. in Germany.

Kittens are tiny chaos engines for about six months and then mellow rapidly. They need two scheduled feedings, a litter box per cat plus one extra, and somewhere high to climb. Spay/neuter happens around six months — most shelters arrange this before adoption.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting CHARLIE, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about CHARLIE?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Arche Noah Transilvania e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw CHARLIE on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt CHARLIE if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Arche Noah Transilvania e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is CHARLIE already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if CHARLIE isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Arche Noah Transilvania e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know CHARLIE and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
