CHESTER

European Shorthair · Male · Adult · 5 years

CHESTER is a lovely, gentle and affectionate European cat who is just waiting to fill a family with his love. He is a FIV carrier, but he simply needs adopters who are informed and willing to welcome him with all the kindness he deserves. CHESTER is a gentle and affectionate cat, always ready for moments of tenderness with his loved ones. He is clean and can handle loneliness, a real companion easy to live with on a daily basis. He also gets along well with children. His needs:Living in an apartment suits him perfectly, and it is even mandatory since he is FIV positive: this limits the risks of external infections and contact with untested cats.Regarding other cats, CHESTER can only cohabitate with other FIV-positive cats to avoid any risk of transmission. This is an essential point to respect for the well-being of all.He tolerates car rides moderately - a little softness and patience will be useful during necessary trips. The FIV does not prevent him from living a beautiful and long life as a pampered cat: regular veterinary care is enough to ensure his well-being.We are looking for adopters for CHESTER:Living in an apartment or any configuration without the need for a gardenWithout another cat, or only with FIV-positive catsFamilies with children are welcomeInformed and serene about FIV, ready to offer CHESTER a secure and loving environmentCHESTER has so much love to offer and is just waiting to find a family ready to welcome him as he is. If his profile touches you, contact us by phone - our team will be happy to tell you more about him, about FIV, and to organize a meeting. FIV is not an obstacle to love: CHESTER is just waiting for a home to prove it.Adoption is only possible with a "permit to keep an animal" if you reside in Wallonia. The refuge in Waterloo is open Monday to Thursday from 1 pm to 5 pm. About CHESTER

What life with CHESTER looks like

CHESTER is a adult european shorthair cat waiting at Help Animals in Brussels.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇧🇪Adopting from Belgium

Belgian shelters operate under regional law (Flanders, Wallonia, Brussels each have their own rules). All adoptions include the Eurochip, vaccinations, and a stewardship contract. Several Flemish shelters partner with Dutch and German rescue networks.

Frequently asked

Adopting CHESTER, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about CHESTER?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Help Animals handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw CHESTER on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt CHESTER if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Help Animals will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is CHESTER already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if CHESTER isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Help Animals early rather than rehoming privately; they know CHESTER and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
