adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this dog now! Chicco has found a home! His story: Chicco is a sweet, little male dog and is currently waiting in the Shelter of Baia Mare for a new, better life. For that, he needs loving people who will spoil him and stay by his side forever. Unfortunately, we know nothing about Chicco's past. But for the little guy, the future now counts most. And it should be better! Chicco cannot stay in this overcrowded shelter because life here is stressful and dangerous for small dogs. That's why we've photographed him and posted him on this page. Now we hope that Chicco will be seen by loving animal people and taken to a real home. But even a foster home would make the leap to a new, better life easier for him. Chicco is about four years old. With his soft, half-long, black and blond-spotted fur and his shiny, black button eyes, he is a very handsome little dog. He has a friendly and open nature and loves being petted by friendly people. He also gets along well with other animals. He might be a Maltese mix due to his appearance. Chicco is in good condition, has a practical size of about 30 cm, and will fit into almost any household – as long as he is loved and cared for. Maybe Chicco has never lived in a house and has never heard of housecleaning and leash walking. Unfortunately, we don't know that. But if he is shown with a lovingly consistent training style what rules an orderly house and family dog should follow, he will hopefully build security and trust and learn new things. Maybe a visit to a positively working dog training class would also benefit the little guy. Have you fallen in love with the charming, little Chicco and want to bring him home? Then contact us. He can travel to his new home with an EU pet passport neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and treated for fleas. We thank the namingsponsor Daniela S. for giving the little Chicco his name and thus his own identity. As of: 06.02.

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen! Stand: 06.02.2026

About Chicco

What life with Chicco looks like

Chicco is a medium-sized adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Chicco, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Chicco?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Chicco on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Chicco if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Chicco already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Chicco isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Chicco and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
