Chicka und Lina

Mixed Breed · Female · Senior · 14 years

[vc_row][vc_column][mk_table] compatibility with others with fellow animals / children No apparent issues With a heavy heart, we are searching for a new, loving home for our two Chihuahua sisters, Chicka und Lina (both born in April 2012), where they can spend their golden years together. The two have lived together since their puppyhood and are inseparable. They are affectionate, cuddly, people-oriented, and very clingy. Both enjoy leisurely walks, extended cuddle sessions, and prefer to lie where the sun shines in the room. Chicka (2.8 kg) is a calm, loyal soul. Friendly, cuddly, and uncomplicated in her interactions. She has a lot of experience with schoolchildren but can be a bit skittish with small, very lively children. Lina (1.9 kg) is the more delicate of the two. Sensitive, playful, and full of life. After a dental operation in 2024, she has recovered wonderfully and is once again happy and active. Both are neutered, regularly vet-checked, and fit for their age. They are accustomed to living with other dogs (also from vacation times at a doggy daycare) and enjoy going for rides together in the bike basket. Due to changes in our family situation over the past few years, with two small children now in the household, we can no longer give Chicka und Lina the time and attention they deserve. This decision is incredibly hard for us, made out of genuine care and responsibility. We wish for Chicka und Lina a quiet home with loving people who will give them security, affection, and shared cuddle sessions. Separation is not an option, as the two have shared their entire lives together. – Sought: a permanent home – Both neutered, regularly vet-checked – suitable for apartment living or a house with a garden, mainly loving and safe – Only to be separated together If you can envision giving these two wonderful souls a beautiful home, we look forward to your message.

About Chicka und Lina

What life with Chicka und Lina looks like

Chicka und Lina is a small senior mixed breed dog waiting at Hersfelder Tierschutzverein e.V. in Bad Hersfeld.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Chicka und Lina, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Chicka und Lina?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Hersfelder Tierschutzverein e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Chicka und Lina on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Chicka und Lina if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Hersfelder Tierschutzverein e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Chicka und Lina already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Chicka und Lina isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Hersfelder Tierschutzverein e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Chicka und Lina and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
