Snoopy

Mixed Breed · Male · Senior · 16 years

[vc_row][vc_column][mk_table] compatibility with others with fellow animals / children Dominant, aggressive My Snoopy is a small, dominant male dog. I bought him to keep my female dog Molly company, as she shouldn’t be alone. At first, everything went well, but when he had contact with other female dog, he became a bit difficult. He then started pinching my Molly’s legs, which became worse over time. Even during feeding, he no longer lets her eat from her bowl. As soon as he notices that someone is getting food, he starts pushing and begging. I have always treated them equally. He needs to come into the hands of an experienced dog handler. I have actually had experience with dogs, as I had two female dogs for 16 years. But with Snoopy, I’m reaching my limits. I have also gone to dog training classes with both of them. Molly is now 2 years old and is becoming calmer and more reserved. Snoopy is also not fully house-trained, as he still urinates and defecates in the house. I don’t know if he does it consciously or not. When I walk both of them, he pulls on the leash so strongly that he almost walks on his hind legs. He jumps at anyone he thinks he needs to greet. And he barks constantly whenever he’s not being noticed. My vet said that he should be kept as a single dog. But there are also days when the two of them lie together and act as if they are inseparable. Please help me find a loving home for him. [/mk_table][/vc_column][/vc_row]

About Snoopy

What life with Snoopy looks like

Snoopy is a small senior mixed breed dog waiting at Hersfelder Tierschutzverein e.V. in Bad Hersfeld.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Snoopy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Snoopy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Hersfelder Tierschutzverein e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Snoopy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Snoopy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Hersfelder Tierschutzverein e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Snoopy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Snoopy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Hersfelder Tierschutzverein e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Snoopy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
