Chico &#8211

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 2 years

Chico now lives in 80687 Munich. All the best, Chico. Thank you very much, Mrs. J. Chico was discovered by animal protectors in a perrera and was able to move from the dark concrete holes to the protective animal shelter of Arca Huelva. The young male Brittany dog is a very kind companion who enjoys every bit of attention. However, it's clear that the young male dog hasn't had many environmental experiences yet, but he knows better than anyone how unpredictable people can be. Chico greets two-legged beings through the bars of his enclosure warmly and is happy when spoken to. But if someone opens the door to his small world, Chico retreats into the corner and observes first. Since April 2024, Chico has been living with another male dog in a German foster home and is gradually becoming more open. He now shows that he has a real mischievous streak and playfully plays with his four-legged friend. With his friendly nature, he also demands daily cuddles from his foster mother. Overall, Chico is a quiet companion, even though he is just around two years old (as of May 2024). Chico would probably like a confident only dog in his new home, whether it's a female or male dog. He shows himself friendly and curious towards other animals during walks. A home as a single prince would also be possible for him. Driving a car is no problem for Chico, and older, experienced children with dogs could live in his new home. He also handles all other everyday situations very confidently after an initial short period of skepticism. Chico could show a typical breed prey drive. How strong this is, we couldn't assess in the first few weeks. Whether he can walk without a leash after intensive training and a strong bond with his human is currently not answerable. However, he already shows a nice orientation towards his humans. So, whoever is looking for a fun, active, and extremely friendly snout with freckles and isn't afraid to show this one the world will find the right four-legged partner in Chico.

Chico lebt jetzt in 80687 München. Alles Gute, Chico.

About Chico &#8211

What life with Chico &#8211 looks like

Chico &#8211 is a small young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. in Gernsbach.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Chico &#8211, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Chico &#8211?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Chico &#8211 on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Chico &#8211 if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Chico &#8211 already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Chico &#8211 isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Chico &#8211 and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
