Chico

Chihuahua Β· Male Β· Young Β· 2 years

Chico is a male Smooth Coat Chihuahua Date of birth 1/9/2024 Foster in Radcliffe, Manchester Chico came into our care as a group of 7 Chihuahuas, through no fault of their own. He had been loved, but his basic needs hadn't been met. Chico is a very nervous little boy to begin with. 24 hours with you and he is a different dog and very loving. He is still nervous and will startle at noises. He will avoid human contact from strangers. Chico must be homed with at least one other Chihuahua who is confident and similar age to continue to help his confidence. He will need help with his toilet training and once he is ready lots of socialising out and about. Chico is in foster with cats with no issues. Any resident dogs must be neutered and proof provided from your vet No children About Us >>

About Chico

What life with Chico looks like

Chico is a young adult chihuahua dog waiting at Silver Fox Dog Rescue in United Kingdom.

A young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" β€” quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures β€” to let them settle.

πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Chico, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Chico?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Silver Fox Dog Rescue handles screening and the adoption contract directly β€” TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Chico on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Chico if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad β€” Silver Fox Dog Rescue will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Chico already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported β€” ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Chico isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work β€” that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Silver Fox Dog Rescue early rather than rehoming privately; they know Chico and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect β€” names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
