Chinny

Mixed Breed · Male · Senior · 10 years

Meet Chinny ❤️ Meet Chinny, our gorgeous 10-year-old chinchilla, who is looking for a loving forever home. Chinny is a super special little boy with the sweetest nature. He’s friendly, well handled, and enjoys human company, making him a wonderful companion for the right home. Although chinchillas are often happiest with other chinchillas, Chinny has always lived as an only chinchilla and is perfectly content on his own. Because of this, we’re looking for a home where he can continue to enjoy life at his own pace. We’re hoping to find him a home with someone who has previous experience caring for chinchillas, so they understand his needs and can provide him with the best possible care. If you think you could offer Chinny the loving, experienced forever home he deserves, we’d love to hear from you. Please share to help this handsome little gentleman find his perfect home. ❤️

About Chinny

What life with Chinny looks like

Chinny is a senior mixed breed animal waiting at Almost Home Animal Rescue NI in Belfast.

Every animal has their own temperament and history. The shelter knows Chinny far better than any listing can convey — ask about daily routine, ideal household, and what kind of adopter they're hoping for.

🇮🇪Adopting from Ireland

Irish shelters require a home check (often phone or video) and an adoption contract. Animals are vaccinated, chipped, and registered. Cross-border placements to mainland Europe require the rabies titer test (TRACES system).

Frequently asked

Adopting Chinny, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Chinny?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Almost Home Animal Rescue NI handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Chinny on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Chinny if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Almost Home Animal Rescue NI will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Chinny already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most animals on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Chinny isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Almost Home Animal Rescue NI early rather than rehoming privately; they know Chinny and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
