Chiro – ein blaues Wunder sucht wunderbares Zuhause

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 4 years

American Staffordshire Terrier I am male, microchipped, vaccinated, and born in 2020. I am approximately 50 cm tall. I have been waiting since December 2022 for a new home. My caretakers say about me: Chiro is a surrender dog who was given to us because his owner lacked the necessary license. The owner had taken him from dubious circumstances. Little is known about his background. Although Chiro initially appears as a calm representative in a familiar environment, he is a insecure dog type. Multiple visits are desirable. Once he has settled in and gained trust, he is a friendly type. He alerts with barking to competition at the fence or passersby, but he is not a barker. His home is considered his sanctuary, and in the new home, his tolerance should be worked on with care and consideration. Although he accepts fellow animals on walks, he can do without it at home. Clear rules and routines should be established at feeding time to exclude potentially tricky situations from the start. He knows basic commands, can stay alone for a certain period, is conscientious about cleanliness, and knows how to ride in a car. He has not met children in his own home, so if they are present, they should be older. He has also not had any points of contact with other animals in his own home. Allergies or other problems due to his fur color are not known. We are happy to assist with the fulfillment of the terms. The willingness to do so, as well as a subsequent visit to dog training classes, is of course assumed. Chiro is looking for people who can provide him with security, stability, and a loving guide through daily life. Also play, fun, and long walks with plenty of snuggling hours for the blue beauty. Who might bring our Chiro their own blue miracle home?

About Chiro – ein blaues Wunder sucht wunderbares Zuhause

What life with Chiro – ein blaues Wunder sucht wunderbares Zuhause looks like

Chiro – ein blaues Wunder sucht wunderbares Zuhause is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierheim Schkortitz in Grimma.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Chiro – ein blaues Wunder sucht wunderbares Zuhause, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Chiro – ein blaues Wunder sucht wunderbares Zuhause?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Schkortitz handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Chiro – ein blaues Wunder sucht wunderbares Zuhause on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Chiro – ein blaues Wunder sucht wunderbares Zuhause if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Schkortitz will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Chiro – ein blaues Wunder sucht wunderbares Zuhause already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Chiro – ein blaues Wunder sucht wunderbares Zuhause isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Schkortitz early rather than rehoming privately; they know Chiro – ein blaues Wunder sucht wunderbares Zuhause and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
