Adopt Chiva cija

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 8 years

Chiva lived in a field with four other dogs, all five of them having been mistreated. For years, they only knew abandonment and fear, until a neighbor reported the situation and Seprona intervened. When Chiva arrived at the shelter, she was very afraid, having never experienced kindness, so she looked at everyone with much suspicion. But love, when it is patient, works miracles. Slowly, she began to realize that this time things were different, and that the hands reaching out to her were gentle. And then she began to trust. Today, Chiva is a very sweet, calm, and deeply affectionate little dog. She gets along well with other dogs and now she is waiting for a home where, at last, she can stay forever. Chiva is 8 years old. For some, that might be a drawback; for us, it means she needs stability, a warm bed, calm walks, and a family who will pamper her. Her Leishmania test came back positive, and she has already begun treatment. We hope that this does not make her invisible for years so that she can enjoy the home she has been waiting for. After everything she has lived through, will you be the one to give her the life she never had? Idexx test (Ehrlichia, Heartworm, Anaplasma, and Borrelia) negative. She has already been spayed.

Y entonces comenzó a confiar. Test 4 Idexx (ehrlichia, filaria, anaplasma y borrelia) negativo. Ya está castrada. About Chiva cija

What life with Chiva cija looks like

Chiva cija is a medium-sized adult mixed breed dog waiting at ALBA Protectora Madrid in Madrid.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇪🇸Adopting from Spain

Spanish protectoras generally include sterilization, all vaccinations, microchip ID, and EU pet passport in the adoption fee (typically €250–€400 for a dog, €100–€180 for a cat). Many maintain partnerships with rescue transport providers across the EU.

Frequently asked

Adopting Chiva cija, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Chiva cija?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. ALBA Protectora Madrid handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Chiva cija on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Chiva cija if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — ALBA Protectora Madrid will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Chiva cija already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Chiva cija isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with ALBA Protectora Madrid early rather than rehoming privately; they know Chiva cija and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (ES). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
