Chojrak

Male · Adult · 7 years

Chojrak is a beautiful, black dog with a thick, soft coat that begs to be petted. We don't know his past, but we do know one thing - for a long time he has not known what it means to experience kindness and closeness from a human. He didn't know that a human hand could be good, that it could pet, scratch and give a sense of security. Today Chojrak is a completely different dog. Day by day he is opening up more and showing how much he desires contact with humans. He loves being petted, is becoming bolder in seeking attention and is beginning to find joy in being close. He loves walks and walks very nicely on a leash. He gets along well with other dogs and finds himself in their company. He has made tremendous progress - how he is changing is really touching. We are looking for a home that will show him the world anew - a patient, understanding caregiver who will give him time and further sense of security. Chojrak will repay you with great gratitude and devotion. He is only just learning what love is - maybe it's you who will show him love all the way?

PL·Show original

Dziś Chojrak to zupełnie inny pies.

About Chojrak

What life with Chojrak looks like

Chojrak is a medium-sized adult dog waiting at Schronisko Na Paluchu in Warsaw.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

Note from the shelter: Requires patient, understanding home due to past trauma and fearfulness

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Chojrak, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Chojrak?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Na Paluchu handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Chojrak on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Chojrak if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Na Paluchu will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Chojrak already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Chojrak isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Na Paluchu early rather than rehoming privately; they know Chojrak and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
