Chornushka (Чорнушка)

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 6 years

In 2023, Chernushka arrived in the Velikonovosilkovsky district of Donetsk Oblast. She came to the military - exhausted and hungry. At first, she only came for food, but then she stayed to live with people. That same winter, Chernushka gave birth to eight puppies. Despite all the difficulties, she became a caring mother, and the military helped the small dog family as much as they could. During evacuation, volunteers managed to take Chernushka away too. So she ended up in our shelter. Chernushka is a very good dog who genuinely loves people. She's not made for yard guard or life on a chain. She's about something else - about meetings at the gate, joint walks, joy from human attention and a desire to be close. There's one nuance we always honestly talk about: Chernushka sometimes shows hunting interest in cats. That's why we don't recommend leaving her with them unattended. If you are looking for not a guard but a loyal friend who will become a full-fledged member of the family, come to meet Chernushka. Maybe she has been waiting for you all this time.

UK·Show original

About Chornushka (Чорнушка)

What life with Chornushka (Чорнушка) looks like

Chornushka (Чорнушка) is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Happy Paw Dnipro in Ukraine.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

Frequently asked

Adopting Chornushka (Чорнушка), answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Chornushka (Чорнушка)?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Happy Paw Dnipro handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Chornushka (Чорнушка) on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Chornushka (Чорнушка) if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Happy Paw Dnipro will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Chornushka (Чорнушка) already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Chornushka (Чорнушка) isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Happy Paw Dnipro early rather than rehoming privately; they know Chornushka (Чорнушка) and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (UK). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
