Chuche

Chihuahua · Female · Young · 2 years

Chuche the Chihuahua - small, friendly and searching for her happiness The little Chuche did not have an easy start and has now ended up at a Spanish animal shelter. Despite this, the tiny Chihuahua female dog weighing just 3.2 kilograms is a thoroughly likeable and lovable companion. She greets people kindly and openly, and gets on well with her fellow dogs too. She shows herself to be social, uncomplicated and enjoys all the attention she can get. We wish Chuche a loving home where she can finally arrive and be valued as a full-fledged family member. Despite her small size, she has the same needs as any other dog: she wants to go for walks, discover her environment, be occupied and simply belong. Unfortunately, the Chihuahua is one of those breeds whose breeding is increasingly viewed critically. The increasing focus on an extremely small body shape and a very round, short skull can encourage health problems. These include dental malocclusion, open fontanelles, breathing difficulties, eye injuries and an increased risk of injury due to her small size. Not every Chihuahua is affected by this, but it is important to be aware of this responsibility and not to see such a dog as "accessories" because of its size, but rather as a dog with normal needs. Whoever gives Chuche a home will gain a friendly, social and charming little companion who now finally wants to experience the good things in life. Maybe she can soon pack her suitcase and exchange it for a warm bed in her own family. Here's the link to Chuche's video

About Chuche

What life with Chuche looks like

Chuche is a small young adult chihuahua dog waiting at SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. in Germany.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Chuche, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Chuche?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Chuche on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Chuche if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Chuche already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Chuche isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Chuche and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
