CHUPA

Female · Young · 3 years

Female, 3 years and 9 months, 12 kg. Breed: Podenco / Terrier mix. Origin: Spain. Available for adoption in: Switzerland. Current location: Private boarding in Andalusia, Spain at our expense. Arrival upon adoption: Friday, May 15, 2026. Our dogs only travel outside Spain when adopted. The possible arrival date is mentioned above. Before any adoption steps, please read our arrival process in the ADOPTER menu, our adoption conditions and fees. CHUPA is a very charming little Podenco... and with a touching story. About a year ago, she was found alone and completely panicked, within the prison premises just across from the boarding where we take in our dogs in Andalusia. A lady managed to approach her, patiently catch her, then contacted our partner... who asked us for help. That's how CHUPA was taken in by us at our expense, to give her a real chance and let her develop. This is why we have delayed her publication a bit. Today, the best part is seeing how much she has evolved: CHUPA has gained confidence, calmed down, and now lives with the family of the boarding's owners, surrounded and secure. She remains shy if she doesn't know someone, which is normal. She is a small, gentle, affectionate and very attached dog. She likes contact, attention, and she has this way of looking at humans that melts hearts... You can feel that she has understood that life can be beautiful, and she is ready to share it. Like many Podencos, she is intelligent, curious, with that little "cat" side that we love: delicate inside, observant, quiet but can be lively on the outside. CHUPA should be handled with delicacy and tenderness, we think another dog who is confident would be a plus. Preferably non-urban environment, countryside or mountainous area. If there is an outdoor space, it must be fully secured. Her story: Found lost and panicked within the prison grounds located 1 km from our partner's boarding in Andalusia. Sponsorship and care by Coeurs de Chiens. With humans: With gentleness. Other dogs: Yes. Children: We prefer to place CHUPA in a home without children. Adoption profile: Each dog we place needs an adaptation period that can range from 3 to 6 months, depending on their history and experiences. An educational and socialization commitment will be requested as well as a high presence rate with the dog initially. Placement preferably outside urban areas, in the countryside or mountains. If there is an outdoor space, it must be secure and well fenced. If in an urban area, we will study the logistical and situational context.

About CHUPA

What life with CHUPA looks like

CHUPA is a young adult dog waiting at Association Coeurs de Chiens in Lausanne (VD).

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting CHUPA, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about CHUPA?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Association Coeurs de Chiens handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw CHUPA on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt CHUPA if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Association Coeurs de Chiens will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is CHUPA already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if CHUPA isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Association Coeurs de Chiens early rather than rehoming privately; they know CHUPA and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
