YUKI

Male · Young · 3 years

Male, 3 years and 8 months old, 15 kg, Spanish Water Dog/Retriever breed, from Spain, available for adoption in Switzerland. Currently at a private boarding kennel in Andalusia, Spain, at our expense. Arrival date: Friday, July 17, 2026 (evening - France border near Geneva). Our dogs travel to their new homes only after they are adopted through our process. Please read our conditions under "Adoption Process and Conditions & Arrival Process." Description: Yuki is a friendly, affectionate, and lively dog. He loves human company and also enjoys the company of other dogs. Always eager to participate in activities or simply spend time with his loved ones, he naturally seeks contact and easily forms bonds with those around him. A cheerful, dynamic, and playful little boy. Behind his energy lies a sensitive, attentive, and close-to-human dog. Like many intelligent dogs, Yuki learns very quickly. Curious, observant, and willing, he will need an active family that loves walks, outdoor activities, and sharing time with their four-legged companion. He is full of energy and would appreciate being able to expend both physically and mentally. He also seems to have good aptitudes for activities requiring reasoning, scent work, and search. Pursuit games, exploratory walks, mental stimulation activities, or outings by the water could suit him well. Yuki will thrive with present and dynamic people who can meet his activity needs. His intelligence, natural curiosity, and ability to learn make him a particularly pleasant companion for adopters willing to invest in the relationship. During walks, he may still pull slightly on the leash in certain environments. This behavior has mainly been observed when leaving the shelter where he lived, a context that could have made him a bit over-energetic and not sufficiently fulfilled. We are looking for a home for Yuki that can offer him affection, stability, and activities adapted to his age and temperament. He will suit people who love walking, hiking, outdoor activities, sharing search games or enjoying walks by the water with their dog, rather than a very sedentary lifestyle. A wonderful family dog. History: Yuki was taken to the shelter by his owner due to significant health problems; she was no longer able to care for him. Maria, one of our local volunteers, was touched by his story and quickly took him out of there, giving him a second chance. He is currently in a paid boarding kennel, which is a heavy burden for her and us. So, find a wonderful family for him soon. Conspecifics: Yes Children: From 10 years old and very comfortable with dogs Cats: We prefer to place Ali in a home without cats; according to our tests, he gets too excited around them Adoption profile: Ideal age range: 28-60 years Physically fit people With present availability Loving long walks, outdoor activities, hikes Countryside, mountains, excluding urban areas Ideally with a secure outdoor space Have a vehicle to reach green spaces, lakes, rivers, and forests depending on the location. We describe an ideal for the dog's well-being; we know it is sometimes difficult to achieve. We will study each file that comes close to the criteria we are looking for.

About YUKI

What life with YUKI looks like

YUKI is a young adult dog waiting at Association Coeurs de Chiens in Lausanne (VD).

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting YUKI, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about YUKI?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Association Coeurs de Chiens handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw YUKI on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt YUKI if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Association Coeurs de Chiens will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is YUKI already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if YUKI isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Association Coeurs de Chiens early rather than rehoming privately; they know YUKI and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
