Adopt Churro

Mixed Breed · Unknown

Churro lives in a large dog enclosure in the garden area of the shelter. At first, he seems shy, staying away from people and the other dogs that are around them. When the situation calms down a bit and Churro is approached without other dogs, it quickly becomes clear that he is not really shy. He also comes happily to strangers and is simply full of joy if he gets even a short moment with two people. He enjoys petting and attention and confidently places his head on the hand with eyes closed. As soon as other dogs gather, he again steps back further. Churro has many white marks on his face and neck, which are often the result of other dogs biting. It is very likely that some of the dogs in the group have bullied him, and therefore Churro avoids other dogs. Despite his experiences, he appears to be a balanced personality in the shelter kennel. He could also be suitable as the only dog, as long as at home it is understood that everything is new and amazing for him at first.

Read original (fi)

Churro asuu yhdessä tarhan piha-alueista valtavassa koiralaumassa.

About Churro

What life with Churro looks like

Churro is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Embla Rescue in Helsinki.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇫🇮Adopting from Finland

Finnish shelters require a home visit and an adoption contract. Animals are vetted; the EU pet passport covers cross-border travel within the bloc.

Frequently asked

Adopting Churro, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Churro?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Embla Rescue handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Churro on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Churro if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Embla Rescue will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Churro already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Churro isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Embla Rescue early rather than rehoming privately; they know Churro and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FI). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
