8.10.2026 The world and the courtyard gates have opened, and Kuura has been out on a real walk for the first few times. And it hasn't been terrible at all, quite the opposite! Kuura walks calmly following the foster caregiver and also takes support from her dog friends on walks. The fear of the leash has finally been overcome through persistent training, and suitable pain medication has certainly played a part in the wonderful progress as well. Kuura has also progressed nicely at home. Only the mornings are a bit restless, especially if Kuura is not behind the gate. Then she may whine at the door and wait for the foster caregiver to get up, give food, and take her out into the yard, after which she calms down to sleep again. When the gate is closed, Kuura is better able to settle down and wait patiently for the foster caregiver to wake up. During the day Kuura is very unobtrusive and spends most of her time in peace in the utility room. She enjoys her food and has a good appetite. Kuura doesn't pick and choose people; in a good moment anyone is fine to make acquaintance with. She also gets along with other dogs regardless of sex and is not a barker. Playing is starting to interest her, and the foster caregiver has been challenged to play, though Kuura does not yet dare to fully throw herself into it. Especially in the mornings Kuura likes to run off-leash in a fenced area. It would be wonderful if her future home had a safe fenced yard so that she could continue to enjoy these running antics. Once a suitable home is found, Kuura is ready to pack her backpack and move into her very own home. 31.8.2026 Kuura has taken good steps forward, and her interest in her surroundings and in people has clearly grown. Kuura has increasingly begun to seek out human company and seeks contact herself. Visitors also interest her, and Kuura has been curiously sniffing new people.

3.11.2026Lenkkeily sujuu Kuuralla koko ajan paremmin. Nykyisin hän kävelee iloisesti liinassa jo parin kilometrin mittaisia lenkkejä. Välillä innostutaan vähän hepuloimaan ja välillä taas pysähdytään haistelemaan mielenkiintoisia tuoksuja. Kuura pystyy kulkemaan pellonlaidassa aivan maantien läheisyydessä, eivätkä ohi ajavat autot hetkauta poikaa sen kummemmin. Kuuralla ei myöskään vaikuta olevan erityistä riistaviettiä. Pihalla aidan toisella puolella käyskentelevät kanat ja lampaat eivät herätä hänessä juurikaan kiinnostusta. Kuura haluaa kovasti luottaa tuttuun ihmiseen, ja tämän luottamuksen turvin hän uskaltaa rohkaistua kokeilemaan myös uusia asioita. Leikki-ikäiseen lapseen Kuura suhtautuu lähinnä uteliaasti, eivätkä lapsen kovaäänisetkään leikit saa häntä säikähtämään. Arjessa Kuura hakeutuu yhä useammin perheen seuraan ja tulee mielellään sinne, missä muut viettävät aikaa. Myös vieraat saattavat saada osakseen uteliaan ja ystävällisen tervehdyskäynnin. Aamuisin uni maistuu paremmin, ja Kuura antaa ihmistensä nukkua jo hieman pidempään kun ennen. Kuuran Librela-lääkitys on vaihdettu Lenivia-lääkitykseen. Uusi lääke annetaan pistoksena eläinlääkärissä noin kolmen kuukauden välein. 8.10.2026Maailma ja pihaportit ovat auenneet, ja Kuura on käynyt ensimmäisiä kertoja ihan oikealla lenkillä. Eikä se ole ollut lainkaan kamalaa, päinvastoin! Kuura kävelee rennosti kotihoitajaa seuraten ja ottaa lenkeillä tukea myös koirakavereista. Hihnapelko on lopultakin selätetty sitkeällä harjoittelulla, ja osansa hienoon edistymiseen on varmasti ollut niin ikään sopivalla kipulääkityksellä. Myös kotioloissa Kuura on edistynyt hienosti. Ainoastaan aamut ovat vähän levottomia, etenkin jos Kuura ei ole portin takana. Silloin hän saattaa piipata ovella ja odottaa että kotihoitaja nousee ylös, antaa ruuan ja lähtee viemään pihalle, jonka jälkeen taas rauhoittuu nukkumaan. Kun portti on kiinni, Kuura osaa paremmin rauhoittua ja malttaa odottaa kotihoitajan heräämistä. Päivisin Kuura on hyvin huomaamaton ja viettää suurimman osan ajastaan kaikessa rauhassa kodinhoitohuoneessa.
