Ciapek

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 5 years

Adopted virtually by: Employees of the Cooperative Bank in Dobrycza :) Ciapek came to us after an accident and had very little relationship with people. Even in March, he had a huge problem getting out of the crate, he was terrified of the leash, other dogs. The determination of several people eventually led to our Ciapulek starting to go outside the animal shelter, on long walks :) Ciapek still feels uncertain, is afraid of dogs, bicyclists or cars, but no longer panics. He loves our Lady Hania, whom he trusts completely :) We are aware that it's hard for such dogs to find the right home, one that has the will and time to work on building trust with Ciap, but we are sure that such a home exists! Ciapek is about 2 years old, a bit like a Jack Russell Terrier :) Update November 13, 2024: Ciapek is our little stray dog, he still has some setbacks during walks related to the amount of stimuli encountered (such as too many passing cars), these are interspersed with successes and forming new relationships with other volunteers. He gladly takes treats, doesn't pull on the leash. With the staff, with whom he spends the most time, he has started to show his affectionate side and increasingly expects ear scratches. Ciapek has begun to show interest in other dogs, he does not show aggression - a balanced female dog would certainly be a great adoption option for him. We're cheering for our Ciap and hope that someone will finally take on the work to overcome his fears. About Ciapek

What life with Ciapek looks like

Ciapek is a small adult mixed breed dog waiting at Schronisko Krotoszyn in Krotoszyn.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Ciapek, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Ciapek?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Krotoszyn handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Ciapek on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Ciapek if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Krotoszyn will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Ciapek already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Ciapek isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Krotoszyn early rather than rehoming privately; they know Ciapek and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
