Adopt Cinderella

Female · Adult · 5 years

The young Cinderella was largely left to her own devices in a Bonn garden. She is a beautiful herding dog with typical herding dog traits, but due to her character and age, she is currently in the "light" version. Cinderella is open and friendly to strangers, but she has already started to show some territorial behavior in her run at our animal shelter. The young female dog has no discipline, but of course, she needs it. She still runs a bit undisciplined on the leash and is also easily overexcited. If she doesn't receive guidance from a human, she may already be barking at fellow animals and can then turn around and bite the person. Therefore, Cinderella wears a muzzle for safety. However, she usually shows herself to be friendly, cheerful, and incredibly charming on walks. She is still quite easily exhausted, as her background and her breed type have not given her much stamina. Only when she sees rabbits on the walk does her temperament take over. Cinderella is clingy with her trusted people and easy to motivate, but she is not very interested in treats. She is also much too thin for her size. Resources—typical herding dog traits—are a topic for Cinderella, as she has already defended her water bowl from other dogs. Therefore, a life as a second dog in the future home could be challenging. We are looking for a home with herding dog enthusiasts (or those who will become one), who can counter her current subtle resource defense, give her clear guidance, and lovingly and consistently guide her, who is still not fully grown. Children should not live in the new home. An escape-proof garden with a digging prevention barrier would be great. Cinderella wraps you around her little paw with her charm!

About Cinderella

What life with Cinderella looks like

Cinderella is a extra-large adult dog waiting at Tierheim Bonn in Bonn.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Cinderella, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Cinderella?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Bonn handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Cinderella on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Cinderella if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Bonn will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Cinderella already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Cinderella isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Bonn early rather than rehoming privately; they know Cinderella and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
