Claire

Mixed Breed · Female

The sweet Claire was abandoned at just a few weeks old along with her mother and four siblings in a box outside our Romanian partner our shelter. Thanks to the care provided by the animal welfare workers on site, Claire has grown into a cute young female puppy ready to start a life in her own home. Claire is a friendly and alert young female dog who however feels overwhelmed by the stressful situation at the our shelter and initially shows some insecurity around people. She simply needs time and patience to get used to new people or unfamiliar situations and build trust, but we are confident that Claire will thaw out and develop into a loyal and loving companion in a calm environment with the right guidance. Toward the shelter caregivers, the little female dog has already built trust and displays the charming and affectionate nature she possesses. We could also confirm during our visit that the sensitive female dog would like to form a close bond with her people. Recently, Claire had the chance to go for a short walk together with her siblings and walked quite well on the leash. In unfamiliar situations, she first reacts uncertainly and seeks protection from her people. In the company of other dogs, Claire clearly feels much safer, and since the female dog is very sociable, we would like to place her with an existing calm only dog. We hope that Claire can soon move to her new family and be gently introduced to a dog life as we know it here in Germany. To overcome her remaining insecurity and become a practical, cheerful companion, Claire urgently needs loving and understanding people who do not demand anything from her initially and bring plenty of patience and time. Even though Claire's journey may seem long and bumpy at first, one can already see in her eyes that she becomes more curious every day and wants to explore how the world outside the shelter looks. Would you like to become Claire's favorite person? Are you aware that animals are not returnable items and that young puppies can sometimes require a lot of time, nerves, and effort, still have much to learn, are not immediately house-trained, and cannot always stay alone without problems, needing patience and time to adapt to everyday life and existing pets? Then please contact us with a detailed introduction of your family and your expectations for this new family member. Claire currently lives at our partner our shelter in Romania and will soon be vaccinated, treated against internal and external parasites, and microchipped before moving to her new home.

DE·Show original

About Claire

What life with Claire looks like

Claire is a small adult mixed breed dog waiting at Hope for lost Souls e.V. in Kleinostheim.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Claire, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Claire?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Hope for lost Souls e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Claire on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Claire if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Hope for lost Souls e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Claire already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Claire isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Hope for lost Souls e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Claire and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
