Clara

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 4 years

Clara still lives on the streets, where she suffers greatly and is increasingly worn down. Due to the stress and hardships of street life, she is now also physically weakened. What she exactly lacks, we cannot say at the moment – possibly she has problems in her mouth area, as one of her kittens tested positive for the Calicivirus. The Calicivirus belongs to the viruses that cause cat flu. The prognosis is usually good, although some cats can develop a chronic gum and throat infection, which is generally treatable. She neither likes other cats nor dogs. Toward humans, she is initially a bit reserved due to her past experiences. Once she has gained trust, however, she is very affectionate and seeks the company of her people. We wish for Clara a loving home as a single princess, where she can leave behind the hard life on the streets with much patience and understanding and finally find her place. Clara was born in August 2022 and is currently still in Spain. She lived alone in an abandoned country house and had several kittens there. The kittens were already successfully adopted, but the loving and caring cat mom still hasn't found a new home. Clara is a very affectionate and calm female cat who deserves a safe place. Life on the streets outdoors is not easy for a young kitten; she is constantly exposed to all kinds of dangers and is restless. Therefore, Clara might initially be a bit restless and fearful, but this will quickly subside once she knows she is safe. Clara is already neutered and tested negative for FIV and FeLV. Upon arrival, she will also be vaccinated, dewormed, and microchipped. Who will give the loving female cat a safe home?

DE·Show original

About Clara

What life with Clara looks like

Clara is a adult mixed breed cat waiting at Aktion Tierisch Happy e.V. in Germany.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Clara, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Clara?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Aktion Tierisch Happy e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Clara on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Clara if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Aktion Tierisch Happy e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Clara already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Clara isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Aktion Tierisch Happy e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Clara and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
