Adopt Clara

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Adult · 6 years

EMERGENCY Name: Clara. Breed: Maremma Mix Age: born around April 2020. Gender: female Size: medium to large / currently 18 kg. Neutered/Sterilized: not yet Sponsor: Anett Kiese Location / Country: Italy Description Clara – a joyful girl with special needs No one knew if she was still alive. She lay there, motionless by the roadside. Hit and left behind. Many people passed by, paying no attention to the poor female dog. Time passed, the pain became almost unbearable, but Clara could not move, could not draw attention to herself. When our animal rescuer found Clara, the sight was heart-wrenching. The female dog was immediately taken to a clinic and given medical care. Unfortunately, her back injuries are so severe that they have resulted in paraplegia. Surgery would be futile. But our dear Clara does not struggle with fate. She accepts it and makes the best of it. She is a joyful young dog who enjoys life in her foster home and with other dogs. The pictures speak for themselves 🙂 She bravely endures all necessary treatments and daily care. The physiotherapy also seems to be doing her good. To help mobilize Clara, she will soon receive a wheelchair for her hind legs. We can already imagine her zooming around with it 🙂 We are looking for people for Clara who are aware of what it means to take in a dog with a handicap, perhaps even those with experience caring for paralyzed dogs, and who definitely live on a ground floor. Clara doesn’t need pity, Clara needs people who can help her through everyday life, who will care for her and give her the love, security, and support the young female dog longs for so much. In return, they will receive a joyful, open, and lovable dog who, with the help of a wheelchair, will walk through life alongside them. If you have opened your heart to our beautiful Clara, please contact us. We will happily provide you with more information about Clara, her care needs, and can share our experience in handling dogs with special needs upon request. Cat-friendly: unknown. Compatible with fellow animals: with male dogs, with female dog Handicap: paralyzed Contact person: Mrs. Christine Sander Email: « Livio Akira (Consuelo) ». Gets along with other dogs.

NOTFALL Name: Clara. Rasse: Maremma MixAlter: geboren ca. April 2020. Geschlecht: weiblichGröße: mittelgross bis gross/ derzeit 18 kg. Kastriert/Sterilisiert: noch nicht Paten: Anett Kiese Aufenthalts Ort / Land: Italien Beschreibung Clara – ein lebensfrohes Mädchen mit speziellen Bedürfnissen Keiner wusste, ob sie noch lebte. Sie lag da. Regungslos am Straßenrand. Angefahren, liegen gelassen.

About Clara

What life with Clara looks like

Clara is a medium-sized adult mixed breed dog waiting at Adozioni del cuore e.V. in Wedel.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Clara, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Clara?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Adozioni del cuore e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Clara on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Clara if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Adozioni del cuore e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Clara already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Clara isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Adozioni del cuore e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Clara and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
