Adopt Livio

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Senior · 10 years

Emergency Name: Livio. Breed: Mixed. Age: Born in 2016. Gender: Male. Size: 51 cm / 62 cm long. Neutered/Sterilized: Not yet. Location / Country: Italy. Description: Livio has been through a lot in his life. A rescuer found the then one-year-old dog abandoned, injured, and covered in wounds. She took him in, brought him to a clinic, and nursed him back to health. For three years now, he has been with her, physically fully recovered, but it is finally time for him to move into a new (his own!) home so that his emotional wounds can fully heal. The pension where he currently lives also houses other dogs. This stresses Livio out because he is afraid of them, afraid of all his fellow animals. As a result, he is always in defense mode. Always stressed. Always on guard. Any sudden movement makes him flinch in fear. All this is due to his difficult past, which haunts him at the pension because there are too many factors that frighten Livio. People calm him down. Adults who approach him calmly and relaxed, with positive energy, who trust him, give him time, and do not pressure him. He also responds calmly to them. He immediately recognizes who treats him well and whom he can trust. He reflects the energy and feeling he receives. In these moments, the true Livio shines through. The Livio who is not stressed. The one who simply wants to spend his life with his people and seeks affection gratefully. Livio is 4 years old. In the prime of doghood! Ready to let go of his fears in the company of his people, in his safe and relaxed home. Ready to start a new, carefree life. Without other fellow animals, without children. But with lots of love and trust! You will get from him what you give him, and he will stand as loyally by your side as you do by his. Take another look at Livio. Look into his face and imagine how he smiles at you with joy. Just like you smile at him 🙂 Cat-friendly: Unknown. Contact person: Frau Gerlinde Kolubka. Email: « Chicco Clara »

NOTFALL Name: Livio. Rasse: MixAlter: Geboren 2016.

About Livio

What life with Livio looks like

Livio is a senior mixed breed dog waiting at Adozioni del cuore e.V. in Wedel.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Livio, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Livio?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Adozioni del cuore e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Livio on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Livio if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Adozioni del cuore e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Livio already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Livio isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Adozioni del cuore e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Livio and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
