Adopt CLAUDIUS

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 2 years

CLAUDIUS - not suitable as a guard dog - looking for a new home! Still waiting in Romania! - Male dog, 2 years old, born around January 2024, height ca. 45-50 cm, neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, EU-Pass. - Claudius and his mother Claudia (see www.sos-strassentiere.de) lived in Romania the typical life of a pet dog – as a guard dog on a farm. But both took their task lightly: they did not bark or bite. Thus, they were quickly deemed useless by their owners and were sent to the local animal shelter. Heartlessly, they were delivered still on a chain and leash. Now, Claudius and Claudia live in a shared pen together, but they have also met other shelter dogs and have shown themselves to be social and compatible. They managed their first small walk on a leash outside the shelter surprisingly well and also showed themselves to be very friendly and open towards people. Of course, they were a bit excited, after all, everything was new: sounds, smells, all the people… Claudius was particularly curious and seemed to already be enjoying the small walk. When his mother Claudia still seemed a bit unsure, Claudius looked after her and gave her courage. For Claudius, we are looking for a loving, active home that can still teach the young pup everything he has not yet learned, preferably with a house and garden in a more rural area. A foster home would also be welcome. Before travel arrangements, a test for Babesiosis, Borreliosis, Ehrlichiosis, Anaplasmosis, Dirofilariosis, and leishmaniasis will be conducted. - Claudius is still in Romania.

About CLAUDIUS

What life with CLAUDIUS looks like

CLAUDIUS is a young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tier-Not-Hilfe in Germany.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting CLAUDIUS, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about CLAUDIUS?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tier-Not-Hilfe handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw CLAUDIUS on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt CLAUDIUS if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tier-Not-Hilfe will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is CLAUDIUS already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if CLAUDIUS isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tier-Not-Hilfe early rather than rehoming privately; they know CLAUDIUS and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
