Cleo

Cocker Spaniel · Female · Adult · 4 years

Cleo arrived as a stray having been found tied to a fence with another dog. Given her condition, we believe she’s likely been regularly kennelled or crated as her feet were impacted with dirt alongside untreated yeasty ears. She does not keep her kennel clean and will often relieve herself after exercise when returned to her kennel. She’s atypical of a working Cocker who has not got a job to do and is busy-busy-busy just buzzing around at top speed. Cleo has an untreated old injury in one of her hind legs. Having sought advice from specialist surgeons there is no need for surgery at this time. Any potential adopter will have to be aware that in her later years surgery or at least arthritis pain management costs will likely be incurred. Any serious adopters are welcome to request a full veterinary report regarding this injury. She’s a very small Cocker Spaniel of just 6kg. As she was a stray, we cannot rehome Cleo to households with children less than 12 years of age, as per our policy. We do not know her suitability around cats. Cleo could live with another dog, and it may actually be beneficial for her to have another dog to learn from. As ever, breed experience is advantageous and a fully secured and private garden where she can practice her house-training. The adoption fee for all dogs is £210. 00. The rehoming fee is £250. 00 for all dogs. Applications will close once we find a suitable applicant. About Cleo

What life with Cleo looks like

Cleo is a small adult cocker spaniel dog waiting at Perthshire Abandoned Dog Society in Perth.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Cleo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Cleo?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Perthshire Abandoned Dog Society handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Cleo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Cleo if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Perthshire Abandoned Dog Society will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Cleo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Cleo isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Perthshire Abandoned Dog Society early rather than rehoming privately; they know Cleo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
