Cleo

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Young · 1 year

Cleo: a cheerful, curious, friendly, and playful 1-year-old girl who’s looking for a golden basket. Cleo was found as a stray and had four kittens. She herself is still very young and clearly accustomed to people—just like her kittens. No one seemed to miss her, so we suspect she was abandoned. Her kittens are old enough to fend for themselves, and Cleo herself is ready for a golden basket! Cleo is an absolutely delightful girl! She gets incredibly excited when she sees you and immediately comes over to see what you’re up to. Whether you’re going to pet her, play with her, or just be busy and let her watch—you’ll find that she loves watching and doing it all. Cleo lives here with other cats, and she’s perfectly fine with that. She could share her new home with another cat. Sometimes she finds dogs a bit strange, but she’s curious enough that we expect her to adjust just fine. Cleo was found outdoors and enjoys playing in the outdoor kennel whenever she’s left alone. That’s why we’re looking for a home where she can go outside once she’s settled in. Cleo is simply a lovely lady who we know will bring lots of joy and happiness to her new family!

NL·Show original

About Cleo

What life with Cleo looks like

Cleo is a large young adult mixed breed cat waiting at Dierenopvang Koningen in Netherlands.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇳🇱Adopting from Netherlands

Dutch shelters typically require a household assessment and an adoption contract. Animals are routinely sterilized, microchipped, and registered in the national pet database (NDG) before placement.

Frequently asked

Adopting Cleo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Cleo?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dierenopvang Koningen handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Cleo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Cleo if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dierenopvang Koningen will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Cleo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Cleo isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dierenopvang Koningen early rather than rehoming privately; they know Cleo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
