Cleo

Rottweiler · Female · Adult · 6 years

Cleo is looking for a home with loving and active adopters who can take her on sniffy adventures, who will take the time to help her settle in and give her all the love and attention she deserves. She is a friendly bean who could live with any aged children who will play with her nicely and will give her space to rest when needed. Cleo could live with another calm dog who will happily co-exist and engage in occasional play, this will be pending successful meets at the centre; although living with another dog is not a necessity, she would be happy with polite and friendly walking buddies. Cleo is a clever girl and already has some training under her belt, she does a lovely “sit”, “down” and “stay”, she is eager to engage in training in short, sweet sessions as long as a tasty treat is on offer. She would like a home with a private, secure garden for her to potter about in at her leisure, although this is not a necessity as long as she can be taken out on regular walks. Cleo can settle nicely in the home, so could be left for up to 4 hours, leaving time would need to be built up slowly once she has had time to settle into her new home. Cleo is currently undergoing treatment so will going home on a foster to adopt basis, she will need to meet her adopters a few times prior to going home so please bear all of this in mind when applying. Please note that should you be shortlisted, our rehoming process usually takes up to 7 days, and potential adopters would be required to come up to the centre to meet her within 48hrs of being shortlisted. Super sweet and soppy girl Cleo is a 6 year old Rottweiler who loves her food! She will do anything for a treat, if you are cooking with carrots, she will expect some carrot nibbles too as they are her favourite. Snuggle time is the best, she loves to cuddle up with you for fusses, if you stop she will try to climb into your lap for more, not realising she is a little too big to be a lap dog. This pawsome pooch is looking for her new family.

About Cleo

What life with Cleo looks like

Cleo is a large adult rottweiler dog waiting at Dogs Trust Canterbury in Chestfield.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Cleo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Cleo?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dogs Trust Canterbury handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Cleo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Cleo if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dogs Trust Canterbury will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Cleo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Cleo isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dogs Trust Canterbury early rather than rehoming privately; they know Cleo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
