Cleopatra

Mixed Breed · Female · Senior · 11 years

My name is Cleopatra. I’m female, spayed, and was born in 2014. I’ve been waiting for a new home since June 2015. Here’s what my caregivers have to say about me: Cleopatra is a surrendered pet from the surrounding area. She came to us after her owner passed away. She’s affectionate and cuddly, but she’ll also let you know when she’s not in the mood for attention. Cleopatra could live comfortably in an apartment setting, though she’d also enjoy the freedom of being allowed to roam outdoors later on. The little piece of ear that’s missing doesn’t really bother her at all. She was born this way, it doesn’t bother her, and now it’s become her signature feature. If there are already cats in the household, there must be plenty of space available so that she can keep her distance from them—she’s not particularly interested in other cats. Ideally, she should continue to be the sole princess, surrounded by a small entourage of devoted companions who adore her and pamper her accordingly. Children should have the right level of understanding; with that in mind, Cleo could be placed in a family. If you’re interested in this little diva, feel free to visit us and see for yourself just how lovable a cat with character can be. The descriptions provided are impressions and snapshots of the animal as it appears at our shelter and foster homes. Each animal may develop differently in its new home.

About Cleopatra

What life with Cleopatra looks like

Cleopatra is a small senior mixed breed cat waiting at Tierheim Schkortitz in Grimma.

Senior cats are the gentlest house guests: predictable, mostly silent, and grateful for a sunny windowsill. Older cats often have minor dental or kidney issues — keep an eye on water intake and weight. Many sleep eighteen hours a day and want no part of any drama.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Cleopatra, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Cleopatra?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Schkortitz handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Cleopatra on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Cleopatra if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Schkortitz will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Cleopatra already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Cleopatra isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Schkortitz early rather than rehoming privately; they know Cleopatra and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
