Adopt Cleopatra

Female

Hello and a very nice meow! My name is Cleopatra. I am 5 years young and a truly friendly Sphynx cat. This wasn't always the case, as I was given up to the animal shelter because I suddenly couldn't understand my Sphynx friends in my old home anymore. My staff took notice… we Sphynx cats are known for preferring fellow cats of the same breed and being very social. So they went on a cause-seeking journey. And behold – there were two reasons why I felt so uncomfortable: I wasn't fit – had severe tartar and a painful uterine infection… and I hadn't been neutered either. Mijaujaujau! I can't meow often enough how relieved I am that I finally feel great again! I show this to everyone and enjoy being stroked. But not only cuddling suits me – I am also quite curious and would like to be everywhere to experience the most beautiful adventures. Even the cats with fur I blink at occasionally (although I find them a bit odd – why do they wear fur in summer?). As good as it is for me in the animal shelter, I would very much like to move into a real home now. I miss my own, awesome people and a loving Sphynx cat friend for my happiness. And that's exactly what I mean! My new family must be familiar with my breed, and I only move here if there is already a social, open Sphynx cat around my age whom I can slowly get to know. Because for no cat – even those with fur – is it nice to be simply set among the others. You wouldn't just let a stranger into your bed, would you? Miau!

Miau!

About Cleopatra

What life with Cleopatra looks like

Cleopatra is a adult cat waiting at Tierheim Uhlenkrog Kiel in Kiel.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Cleopatra, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Cleopatra?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Uhlenkrog Kiel handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Cleopatra on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Cleopatra if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Uhlenkrog Kiel will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Cleopatra already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Cleopatra isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Uhlenkrog Kiel early rather than rehoming privately; they know Cleopatra and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
