Volker and Ilse are two exotics that have come to us through the loss of their owner. They have a gray-green plumage and were born in 1996. Volker could not fly well upon arrival, but now he can fly through our large aviary. Ilse could only walk on the ground when she arrived, but now she can also fly through the aviary a bit. Senegal parrots are inquisitive, alert, and sensitive. They need a lot of time to get used to new environments and generally react sensitively to changes. They are, like other parrots, very intelligent. Therefore, they are demanding in terms of husbandry because they can become bored and develop behavioral issues or become ill without adequate mental stimulation. Their daily physical and mental engagement is therefore important.

Volker und Ilse sind zwei Exoten, die durch den Verlust ihres Besitzers zu uns gekommen sind. Sie haben ein grau – grünes Gefieder und sind 1996 geboren. Volker konnte bei Ankunft schlecht fliegen, inzwischen fliegt er durch unsere große Voliere. Ilse ist bei Ankunft nur auf Fußboden gelaufen, inzwischen fliegt sie auch etwas durch die Voliere. Senegalpapageien sind neugierig, aufgeweckt und sensibel. Sie benötigen viel Zeit, um sich in neuen Umgebungen zurechtzufinden, und reagieren allgemein empfindlich auf Veränderungen. Sie sind, wie auch andere Papageien, sehr intelligent. Sie sind daher anspruchsvoll in der Haltung, weil sie sich ohne ausreichende Beschäftigung schnell langweilen und verhaltensauffällig oder krank werden können. Ihre tägliche körperliche und auch geistige Auslastung ist daher wichtig.
