Clyde

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 3 years

I had a family, but I got scared and ran away because of the fireworks. My owner is back, but since my vaccinations had expired, he can't take me home yet. Also, he needs to fix the fence because me and my companions tore it down. I am initially distrustful, I need time to open up to people. More information about me will follow later. Clyde is a male dog who fled from New Year's Eve fireworks and was brought to us at the beginning of January. Fortunately, the microchip scanner detected it, so we could identify it. Unfortunately, its vaccinations had expired, so we placed it in quarantine for observation. We contacted the owner, but he gave it up, so Clyde is now looking for a new, responsible family. With people: At first meeting, it is distrustful and reserved. Not aggressive, rather withdrawn, it asks for time. With patient and calm approach, it relaxes. Multiple visits and gradual acquaintance are needed to build trust. -Currently, it still cannot safely walk on a leash. The training to get used to the leash is ongoing, but it experiences it as stressful. With practice and positive reinforcement, it can develop nicely. The escape during New Year's and the owner giving it up have affected it. It is a sensitive, cautious type that needs a stable environment and predictable routine. Clyde is suitable for an owner who is experienced, patient, and willing to do the gradual acclimation. A house with a garden and quiet environment is an advantage, but above all, it needs time and consistency. Not suitable for first-time dog owners, nor for a place where immediate 100% cooperation is expected. With the right person, it can become a loyal, attached companion, but it just needs to be given the chance to trust again. If you come to visit, be prepared that the first 2-3 times will just be about getting to know each other. This animal is microchipped.

Clyde szilveszteri tűzijáték elől menekülő kan kutya, aki január elején került be hozzánk.

About Clyde

What life with Clyde looks like

Clyde is a young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Mogyoró Menedék Szentes in Hungary.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇭🇺Adopting from Hungary

Hungarian shelters operate at high capacity given the country's stray population. Animals leave sterilized, chipped, and with a passport. Many shelters coordinate transport to Germany, Austria, and the Nordics.

Frequently asked

Adopting Clyde, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Clyde?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Mogyoró Menedék Szentes handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Clyde on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Clyde if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Mogyoró Menedék Szentes will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Clyde already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Clyde isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Mogyoró Menedék Szentes early rather than rehoming privately; they know Clyde and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (HU). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
