Coal

Labrador Retriever · Male · Young · 3 years

His name is Coal. Like coal. Black as night, full of energy and strength, yet also warm, just like when a fire crackles in the fireplace. Coal is a young dog who is fully embracing life. He has a huge drive to run, enjoys movement and the desire to be part of everything around him. He's a guy who hasn't quite figured out his limits yet and sometimes acts like an uncontrolled bullet, but there's no harshness or anger in it—just youth, enthusiasm and endless energy. He's smart, sensitive and will learn very nicely by the side of a person who gives him time, guidance and a little patience. Beneath that black coal-like coat is a dog with a big heart who loves contact and closeness to people. Coal won't be decoration in a corner. He's a dog for an active person who wants a partner in life, for trips, adventures and joint training in dog school. Once he gets the right direction, he will become a truly great dog. Even from a small coal, under the right conditions, the biggest heat can arise. Coal is approximately three years old, not castrated, treated against parasites, vaccinated and chipped. Castration is required after acclimatization in the new home. He used to live entirely outside, and in indoor spaces he still feels uncomfortable. Therefore, a life in a family house with gradual training to stay inside would be more suitable for him right now. Regarding relations with other dogs, we believe he could work with a calm companion, provided the introduction is responsible. We haven't tested his relationship with other animals. Coal is often associated with darkness. But it is precisely from it that warmth, light and fire arise, around which people have gathered since ancient times. And that's exactly what Coal is—black as night at first glance, but full of life, energy and warmth inside. Sometimes the greatest light doesn't come from perfection, but from beings who are still looking for their own flame. In case of interest in adopting the energetic Coal, we ask you to send us an email at . In the email, write down basic information about yourself, your family, other animals, environment and experience with dogs. Basically, a pet resume, so we have an idea of the life you offer him. We will reply to your email, call you and arrange the first meeting. Our thanks go to Radim Havlíček for the energetic photography ♥ vividphoto.cz ♥ Temperament: energetic, affectionate and playful.

CS·Show original

Coal nebude dekorace do kouta.

About Coal

What life with Coal looks like

Coal is a medium-sized young adult labrador retriever dog waiting at Útulek Tábor in Czech Republic.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇨🇿Adopting from Czech Republic

Czech shelters (útulky) include sterilization, vaccinations, and microchip ID. The adopter signs a written contract (smlouva) — the shelter may follow up to verify wellbeing.

Frequently asked

Adopting Coal, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Coal?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Útulek Tábor handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Coal on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Coal if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Útulek Tábor will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Coal already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Coal isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Útulek Tábor early rather than rehoming privately; they know Coal and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (CS). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
