Coca

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 4 years

Coca, female, neutered, born around early 2021, only about 40 cm tall, weighing around 15 kg, gets along well with dogs, very friendly! Update 10.12.25: Since the foster home where Coca is located will unfortunately be dissolved soon, we are now placing her as an emergency. She lived here until now with family connections and many other dogs. Unfortunately, Ms. Doina, who is now an older lady, is moving to the city, so the foster home will have to be dissolved. Coca has unfortunately a bit too much on the ribs, which should sort itself out in her new home if she gets enough exercise and beautiful walks with you. (Videos further below!) Coca (found together with Cora, also listed here) seem to have been abandoned in Romania. The two seem to have chosen the perfect people to "hitch a ride" with! As the son of the foster home of Cristina (our local animal rescuer) was driving near Craiova down a village street, the two ran after him. He stopped, and one of them immediately jumped into his car—despite not knowing him. They probably sensed that he was a friendly person. The son drove the short distance slowly to his home in the village, and the other female dog ran behind. Now Coca and Cora are in safety and are well cared for. And we are looking for a home. Of course, individually (but happily together). Both are very friendly, full of energy, and joy of life. Cora definitely still has a lot to learn. She travels with TRACES (Transport with European Veterinary Authority Supervision) international pet passport, is microchipped, dewormed, gets flea/ Tick prevention, is vaccinated against Parvovirus, distemper, leptospirosis, rabies, and gets her own safety harness. All of this, as well as the transport to Germany, is included in the adoption fee. Due to legal requirements, you can find pictures and videos of the Sweet Ones here: We are very important that the person and the dog fit well together so that our dogs do not become the Wanderpokal, therefore we are very happy to answer questions in advance by phone. If interested, please fill out the Self-Information Form!

About Coca

What life with Coca looks like

Coca is a medium-sized adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierhilfe Craiova - Hilfe für rumänische Tiere e.V. in Germany.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Coca, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Coca?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierhilfe Craiova - Hilfe für rumänische Tiere e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Coca on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Coca if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierhilfe Craiova - Hilfe für rumänische Tiere e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Coca already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Coca isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierhilfe Craiova - Hilfe für rumänische Tiere e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Coca and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
