Coco

Cocker Spaniel · Female · Adult · 7 years

If you are a fan of Spaniels, then you will know all about their energy levels! Coco loves to put that energy into action with a good mix of physical and mental exercise. Coco loves her walkies in open fields with rivers, trips to the beach with dips in the sea, and woodlands with plenty to sniff. She loves to put that clever nose to good use to play scent games and can find her ball anywhere. She knows lots of tricks and will show them off for nice, tasty treats. Coco is a little worried about interacting with other dogs if they are too bouncy. She would benefit from having calm doggy pals to walk alongside to gain confidence. Coco’s favourite activity is a game of ball. She adores her toys. Coco is sweet natured and loves to have fuss and snuggle up on the sofa with you. She likes a belly rub, will sit on your lap, and will comfort you when you are feeling low. Fall in love with Coco the seven-year-old Cocker Spaniel. She could share her home with secondary school aged children. She is looking to be the only dog in the home and a home without cats. She has no history around small furries and is okay around livestock as she spent some time on a farm. Coco is friendly with visitors to the home and could cope with a reasonably busy household. She has been okay to be left alone for a few hours at a time if this is built up gradually. Coco is housetrained, and she travels well in the car.

About Coco

What life with Coco looks like

Coco is a small adult cocker spaniel dog waiting at Dogs Trust Ilfracombe in Ilfracombe.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Coco, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Coco?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dogs Trust Ilfracombe handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Coco on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Coco if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dogs Trust Ilfracombe will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Coco already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Coco isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dogs Trust Ilfracombe early rather than rehoming privately; they know Coco and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
